A collection of diaries kept by August Wiegand, a locomotive engineer for the Erie Railroad Company. The diaries meticulously details his working life, listing the locomotives he operated, the freight carried on the train, weather conditions, and other activities along the line. Family news is also included along with information about events in his hometown of Deposit, New York. Also includes comments and anecdotes on events like the sinking of the Titanic and the outbreak of the World War I. Diaries are available only for the following years: 1892, 1912, and 1914.
